Top Motorcycle Routes to Plan in 2026

New year, new roads, and endless possibilities. Ready to plan your 2026 adventures? We rounded up six of the most epic rides taken by your fellow Litas, some previously featured in past Highway Diaries entries. From coastal twisties to mountain passes, these locations might just inspire your next trip and spark a little wanderlust for far-off lands.

Scottish Highlands & Isle of Skye, Scotland

Why you’ll love it: You might just shed a tear or two as you ride through the lush, rolling hills and mystical terrain of the Scottish Highlands. From the rugged glens to the serene waters of deep lochs and all the way out to the dramatic coastline of the Isle of Skye, this route blends wild landscapes and epic mountain vistas for a truly unforgettable experience. You’ll see lots and lots of sheep… and you just might also spot a Highland cow or two!

Insider tip: Pack warm layers and rain gear no matter the season, because the weather can shift fast. Litas from Seattle, Bellingham, and Snohomish explored the Highlands with BikerBNB Adventure’s Lassie’s Scramble. You can read the full story here.

Yosemite & Tioga Pass, California

Why you’ll love it: Ready for some twisties? Wind your way through some of California’s most iconic mountain roads with a trip to Yosemite National Park. Tioga Pass enters the park via the Eastern Sierras, delivering sweeping alpine vistas, granite cliffs, and access to Yosemite’s famous valleys, waterfalls, and meadows. Along the way, you can stop at scenic overlooks, hike short trails, or simply soak in the natural beauty. This route is perfect for a multi-day trip with photo ops at nearly every turn. We wrote about one of our trips to Yosemite here.

Insider tip: Start early to beat traffic, and check seasonal road closures. Tioga Pass is usually open late May through October. Daily park permits might also be necessary. Plan your visit on the National Parks Service website.

South of France: Toulouse → Nice

Why you’ll love it: It’s hard to say “no” to a trip to the South of France. Cruise from the heart of southwestern France to the sparkling Mediterranean coast, experiencing vineyards, rolling hills, medieval villages, and the scenic foothills of the Alps. This route blends culture, cuisine, and coastal panoramas for a truly memorable ride. Riders can explore charming towns like Carcassonne and Aix-en-Provence, twist through the Provence countryside, and finish on the sun-drenched beaches of Nice.

Insider tip: Stop in Carcassonne to explore the medieval citadel, and be sure to spend the extra time to take the backroads through Provence for the best views (and less traffic.) Don’t forget to eat a lot of baguettes and croissants while you’re at it.

Hatcher Pass & Independence Mine Road, Alaska

Why you’ll love it: Hatcher Pass delivers a mix of high-elevation adventure, sweeping valley views, and historic mining sites that make every mile feel like a journey through Alaskan history. Riders can enjoy winding roads that test your skills, panoramic vistas perfect for photography, and the chance to explore Independence Mine, a preserved gold mine with trails that showcase the region’s heritage.

Insider tip: If you like to hike, explore Gold Cord, Summit Lake, or the mine trails for epic views. Bring your camera to capture all the postcard worthy shots. Get more insider tips when you read our feature on The Litas Wasilla.

Catalonia & Pyrenees Roads, Spain

Why you’ll love it: This route combines sun-drenched Mediterranean coastlines with twisty mountain passes, offering riders a mix of scenic vistas, adrenaline-pumping curves, and charming villages. Travel through Catalonia’s vineyards, stop in medieval towns, and eat to your heart’s delight. It’s a ride that balances adventure and culture, letting you experience Spain’s natural beauty and historic charm in one unforgettable journey.

Insider tip: Plan for multi-day stops. Do not rush past those coastal towns and mountain villages. The Litas Seattle and Snohomish toured Spain via the Lassies Iberian Scramble by BikerBNB Adventures. Read all about it here.
