FAQs

+ Where did the name The Litas come from?

We get that question a lot. The name came from a drunken bar night between two best friends who dreamed of starting an all female motorcycle group. They thought it sounded like a sweet name. So, no, it doesn't have any alternative meaning besides a badass moto-obsessed women who call themselves The Litas.

+ How do I join?

Download 'Collective by The Litas' app or head to www.thelitas.co/collective. Once downloaded, you can find your nearest city using the MAP to join your local collective. Make an introductory post, discover upcoming local rides and events or post a pickup ride that others can join into. Thats it!

+ Do I have to pay yearly dues?

You will NEVER have to pay dues. Riding motorcycles with friends shouldn't cost you anything. This was always of the utmost importance to founder, Jessica, when creating The Litas.

+ Are three wheelers or trikes allowed?

Yes, we do welcome trikes in our collective! We recognize that trikes are an important part of the riding community, and we believe in fostering an inclusive environment for all women who enjoy the open road, regardless of their bike type.

However, due to the differences in handling, speed, and maneuverability between trikes and traditional motorcycles, we generally ask that trikes ride toward the back of the group during our rides. This positioning helps maintain the safety and flow of the group, ensuring that everyone can ride comfortably and at a consistent pace. Trikes, due to their design, can have a different response in turns, stop-and-go situations, and in maintaining speed with a larger group, so riding in the back helps avoid any disruptions and allows for a smoother experience for all riders..

+ What is the time commitment?

There are no commitment requirements, and members are welcome to join multiple branches if they’re close by. Participate in as many meetups or rides as you’d like, and always remember: you’ll get out of it what you put into it.

+ Do The Litas allow scooters?

No, we are a women's motorcycle riding group and do not allow scooters on rides. Our collective is specifically focused on women riders who ride motorcycles, and we have certain guidelines to ensure safety, consistency, and camaraderie on our rides. Scooters, while an important part of the larger riding community, differ in key ways from motorcycles in terms of performance, speed, and handling. These differences can create challenges during group rides, such as maintaining a consistent pace, ensuring safety, and keeping the overall group dynamic smooth.

By limiting our rides to motorcycles, we can better maintain the group’s safety, comfort, and unity. We strive to create an environment where all riders share similar experiences and expectations. We appreciate your understanding and hope you'll continue to be part of our community in other ways.

+ Do The Litas wear patches?

Our collective is intentionally structured as a community rather than a traditional motorcycle club. One of the key reasons we don’t wear patches is to avoid the potential for misunderstandings or associations with motorcycle clubs, which often have strict hierarchies, codes, and territorial implications.

Wearing patches can sometimes create a sense of exclusivity or imply a specific allegiance that doesn’t align with our values. As a community, we want to focus on inclusivity, support, and solidarity, where all women—regardless of their experience level, riding style, or background—can feel welcome and empowered. We celebrate the freedom of the open road and the shared bond between riders, not the distinctions of rank or affiliation that come with club culture.

By not wearing patches, we maintain a safe, non-competitive space where every rider can connect on a level playing field, without the risk of external assumptions or potential conflicts that can arise from patch-wearing cultures. This helps us stay true to our mission of fostering an open, inclusive environment for all women riders.

+ Do you allow Transgender Women?

Hells yes. If you consider yourself a woman, come ride with us! Transgender bikers are always welcome in the Litas.

+ Do I have to have my motorcycle license to join?

You do not have to have your motorcycle license to join, however, you do need it to go on rides with The Litas.
