never say die
For The Litas, it’s all about hitting the road with your crew and turning every adventure, big or small, into an epic memory. This summer, The Litas Denver rode out for a night of glamping and good times under the stars at a historic drive-in theatre. Denver co-founder Rachel recapped the trip, captured through the lens of Sheryl Crawford.
“Our camping (well, glamping) trip started in Denver; we left town with most of the crew, stopping in Conifer to pick up some of our mountain Litas. Alex picked up a screw in her tire, which she and another rider fixed (we’re always learning something new). Our next stop was Buena Vista to pick up some more Litas from Colorado Springs. We were finally all together, and the hype was contagious. We scarfed some lunch and headed on our voyage, which was just over 200 miles down HWY 285 through the mountains of Colorado (including Kenosha Pass). The ride was smooth, and nothing is better than riding across the mountain passes with 20 other Litas.
“The final destination was Center, Colorado- a tiny town just outside the Sand Dunes. You may wonder why the hell we wanted to go there, of all places… but they have quite possibly the coolest spot to glamp in the area: The Frontier Drive Inn. Not only have they revamped an old drive-in theatre– they’ve also added lodging. We took over all 10 yurts and their tent camping area. Once we arrived, we battled a deadly gravel/sand/rock driveway and parking lot and settled in for the evening. The stoke level was high.
For dinner, we made tacos for the girls and got ready for the featured film on the big screen: the 1980s classic, the Goonies. We all camped out on the lawn to watch the movie. After the movie, had a bonfire where we roasted marshmallows and made smores, laughed a shit ton and watched the full blood moon rise.
Literally nothing better than this.
“Eventually, we all made it to bed and woke up to a cool morning. First, pancakes for breakfast, then packed up to hit the road back home. During the ride home, we sat in classic Colorado mountain traffic, but it was worth every minute. We made new friends, caught up with old ones, and had the best quick little turn and burn!”
