Summer Adventures Bucket List
by @jessicahaggett
Doesn't it always seem like summer goes by so fast, and at the end, you're like, "what the hell did I even spend my summer doing!?". Well, not this year. Nope. This year i'm making a Summer Adventures Bucket List and am going to cross off each adventure one by one, with a shit eating grin on my face. And at the end of the summer when I ask myself what I spent my time doing, I will have countless memories, photos, and miles to remind me.
So, like a responsible adult, I cleared my Monday calendar and started looking at Google Maps. Google Maps is really the best place to start for any explorer; you can zoom in and see which roads are squiggly, and drop the little orange man anywhere on the road to see if it's legit or not.
The first thing I did was type in 'National Parks', there are a TON of national parks within about 450 miles from me that I haven't seen yet, which is pretty ridiculous. I started to add the obvious ones that I know I can easily hit on a weekend. Some will be longer, probably week long trips, or maybe a long weekend. I consider myself lucky to live SO close to some of these parks that people travel across the world to see... and also curse myself for not having seen them yet. If you haven't been to southern Utah yet, you should probably add it to your bucket list.
SOUTHERN UTAH NATIONAL PARKS:
Bryce Canyon National Park
Capitol Reef National Park
Zion National Park
Arches National Park
Canyonlands National Park
One very important thing to remember while making your bucket list, is to be realistic. You don't want to create a list of things that are impossible for you to do. Keep in mind how much free time you have and what your budget is like. However, you should also push yourself to make plans, and not let any weekends pass by with "nothing to do". Luckily gas for a motorcycle is really inexpensive, and you can usually find BLM land to camp on that is f-r-e-e.
Outside of Utah, Yosemite National Park has been on my bucket list for ages (at least the one I keep in my head). As well as Banff and Jasper National Parks, which means riding my bike across the border into Canada and hopefully meeting some of the Canadian Lita babes.
OTHER MUST SEE NATIONAL PARKS:
Badlands National Park
Yosemite National Park
Glacier National Park
Banff National Park
Jasper National Park
Besides seeing 10 national parks, one of my biggest goals for this year is to push myself and my riding abilities. I've decided to ride to the Harley-Davidson 115th Anniversary in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, totaling a little over 3,500 miles. This will be the furthest i've ever ridden on my motorcycle in a single trip and i'm over-the-top excited. I'm going to see parts of the country i've never seen, and cross state lines that i've never crossed.
Okay, enough about MY summer adventures bucket list. It's time for you to make your own! Please post it on Instagram and use hashtag #litasbucketlist so we can see what your summer plans are!
