SOCIAL MEDIA TEMPLATES
Hi Founders,
We wanted to give you a quick heads-up: starting June 2, 2025, Canva will make Template Links a premium feature available only to Canva Pro users.
What this means for you:
The Social Media Templates currently available in The Litas Founders Resources will no longer be accessible to Canva Free accounts unless they are downloaded before the end of May.
You are not required to have a paid Canva account—this is simply a resource we offer for your convenience. However, if you want to download these templates for your use, you can sign up for a free Canva pro trial to access them.
Any Template Links you’ve already used or saved before June 2 will continue to work normally.
If you’re using a free Canva account and want to keep using these templates, please download them by June 1, 2025.
Let us know if you have any questions!
POSTING RIDE DETAILS:
a reminder from litas director kim okabe:
Hi Founders,
I want to take a moment to remind everyone of something incredibly important for the safety and longevity of our community: ride details should never be shared on Instagram or any public platform.
We absolutely encourage you to post "Save the Date" graphics with a note like: "See Collective app for full ride details."
But that’s it. No meet times, KSU, or specific addresses should be shared outside of the app.
A similar version of your ride flyer with Meet up location and time, KSU, etc. goes on the COLLECTIVE APP in your local branch collective ONLY. We covered this in our FOUNDERS ONBOARDING doc, which has been recently updated. Examples can also be found in the templates we provide in the app.

Why This Matters
The reason for this isn't to make things harder—it's to protect you, your riders, and The Litas as a whole.
When ride info is shared publicly, anyone can show up. That means there's no way to ensure that all riders have agreed to the liability waiver. And unless you, as a founder, are printing out and collecting signed waivers in person (which we don’t expect), the only streamlined and secure way to handle this is by keeping all ride info inside the Collective app.
As a global riding community, accidents are inevitable. And while you or your fellow founders might think,
“They'd never blame us—it’s common sense that you ride at your own risk,” but the reality is, it's often not the rider who takes legal action. It’s the devastated family member or grieving spouse who didn’t support their riding in the first place—and now they want someone to be held responsible.
We don’t say this to scare you. We say this because we must be realistic. The Litas is the largest global women's motorcycle collective. We have hundreds of riders on the road every day. All it would take is one court case to set a precedent, and The Litas could be gone.
That’s how serious this is.
We Know Change is Hard
We understand that many longtime members may not be happy about this shift. Change is rarely fun—but it’s necessary for the health and future of our community.
The good news? The Collective app gained nearly 1,000 members in the last 30 days alone—and those numbers continue to grow every week. Riders are loving the simplicity: fewer group chats, easier ride planning, and a more connected, more inclusive and open community. That’s exactly what we’ve always stood for.
What You Can Use Public Platforms For:
Instagram (and only Instagram) may still be used for:
Ride Save-the-dates with a reminder to check the Collective app for details
Meet up info - calling out new or interested riders
Introducing new founders or riders in your branch
Polling your community for new ideas / routes
Building awareness of your branch with past meet/ride group photos
But ride logistics belong in Collective.
No Facebook events. No WhatsApp details. No Slack, Discord, Telegram, etc. If you’ve used those for years, we get it. We're not asking you to shut them down. They can continue as local group chats or riding groups—but they should no longer be the main communication hub for your branch.
Collective is where ride info lives. It’s how we protect ourselves—and each other—as this community grows.
